Session Tips
KEEP EXPECTATIONS SIMPLE
Your session doesn’t need to be perfect to be beautiful.
• Kids don’t have to “behave.”
• You don’t need to pose a certain way.
• Natural moments > perfect ones.
Let your family or your relationship unfold naturally — I’ll guide everything softly.
GIVE YOURSELF EXTRA TIME
Running late creates unnecessary stress.
• Plan to leave earlier than you think.
• Add 10–15 minutes of buffer time.
• A calm start sets the tone for the whole session.
LET THE KIDS BE THEMSELVES
Kids don’t have to look at the camera or smile on command.
• Let them warm up naturally.
• Breaks are normal.
• Exploring = beautiful photos.
• Shyness, silliness, and quiet moments are all welcome.
Natural energy photographs best.
FOCUS ON EACH OTHER — NOT THE CAMERA
Meaningful photos come from connection, not posing.
Try:
• holding hands
• snuggling
• brushing hair back
• whispering something sweet or silly
• gentle movement
I’ll guide you, but you don’t need to perform.
KEEP POCKETS EMPTY
Bulky pockets show up in photos.
• Remove phones
• Remove keys
• Remove wallets
• Remove gum / wrappers
Put them in your bag or car before the session.
SNACKS + BRIBES (BUT KEEP THEM SIMPLE)
• fruit snacks
• puffs
• crackers
• small, non-sticky treats
Avoid:
• chocolate
• lollipops
• messy or colorful snacks
• juice boxes that drip
RELAX YOUR FACE + SHOULDERS
If you feel tense, try:
• slow exhale
• soft smile
• drop your shoulders
• lean into your partner or kids
• close your eyes for a moment
Relaxed faces create relaxed photos.
EMBRACE MOVEMENT
Movement brings emotion into your images.
• walk together
• sway
• lift your child
• twirl
• cuddle
• hold on to your partner
Movement = connection and natural moments.
TRUST THE PROCESS
Every session is different — and that’s the magic.
• Kids may be energetic
• Kids may be quiet
• Couples may warm up slowly
• Weather might shift
• Moments may unfold unexpectedly
I read the energy, adjust as needed, and guide softly throughout.
MOST IMPORTANTLY — BE YOURSELVES
Laugh.
Play.
Snuggle.
Move.
Breathe.
Your job is to just show up and be with your people.
I’ll take care of the rest.
